In brief
Everything you need to know about La Glacière 2022
Syrah, originating from the Rhône Valley, is distinguished by its depth and complexity, offering wines with a dense color and powerful tannic structure, with rich aromas of black fruits, blackberry, and blackcurrant, complemented by peppery and spicy notes.
Merlot, an emblematic grape variety, is identifiable by its aromas and texture. It’s a grape variety that ages extremely well, and whose aromas evolve over time. With dominant notes of fresh red fruits, Merlot brings suppleness and sensuality.
Grape varieties such as Syrah and Merlot complement each other to offer a unique and emblematic blend. The fine tannins and aromas of black fruits from Syrah harmoniously marry with the red fruit aromas of Merlot.
The harvesting processes for Syrah and Merlot grapes reflect a meticulous approach to ensure optimal grape quality. For Syrah, mechanical harvesting is preferred due to the tendency of clusters to ripen unevenly, requiring repeated passes for the selection of ripe grapes. Merlot is picked quickly and in a short time, to avoid potential over-ripeness and preserve all its aromatic potential. It also requires short pruning. Recognizable from other varieties, Merlot has very large winged clusters. As for Merlot grains, they are very round.
